A Dad Who Happens To Be a BossTuesday, November 01, 2005 I have two primary blogs and a few that I just let go. My passion is and always will be for my kids. I have four awesome kids and a wonderful wife who is an author (check out her blog The Write Way Home). I am really, really blessed. Seriously.I started a blog for Dads called the "Blogging Dad" and all of my readers are women for the most part. What is with that? Jill tells me I am more transparent than most guys and so Moms tend to be drawn to that. Truth is, I am not a guy with a bunch of hang-ups. I wear pink shirts. I love to watch my girls dance (ballet). I fish with my boys. I teach my boys not to be sissies, but not to be macho either. It was a stretch when my oldest son was in ballet for two years. It did not damage him; he is as red blooded as any "13 going on 20 year old" boy is. Okay, so I had a few hang-ups. Let guys be guys and girls be girls, I have two of each and it is awesome. I have decided to shut down Blogging Dad. The Blogging Boss can address both areas. Actually there is really no way to separate the Blogging Boss and the Blogging Dad; we are one. I received great feedback from my post about my trip to the farm with the boys. I listen when people speak. A good boss does more listening than speaking, right? (Your boss probably does not) Well, so does a good Dad. About six months ago I realized I was not applying all of what I learned as a boss to my fathering of my children. Now I will have a blog that will hold me accountable. And my readers can hold me accountable. I have a passion to be the best Dad and Boss I can be. Remember the glass IS really half FULL, not empty.

Hey, I've read both - and blog rolled both. But I think you're right. As a boss and a father myself I find that I cannot seperate the two. (In fact I just got in trouble for reprimanding one of my associates -who was acting like a child- by saying "I'll tell you what I tell my 4 year old daughter....")Anyway, I love what you have here. It applies to all the major areas of my life. Husband, Father, Boss, Employee. Thanks.
Homer, you rock! You embrace all three: Husband, Father, Boss and in that order.
Who reprimanded you? Sounds interesting. Maybe a blogging boss story?????
Cheers! -Eric
I really ought to read more of your posts...
Very inspiring for sure. I have a 13 year old going on 20 as well, who happens to be ADD and has no patience for school or work...
Oh well. He will make it through with our help!
I am jealous!
But not envious though.
Your wife's blog is more popular than yours. And you are both blessed.
Most of the babes and ladies who are close to me in Nigeria don't even know what is a blog talkless of blogging. And the black and beautiful Nigerian Attorney I was teaching how to blog was more interested in pushing her voluptuous orb against me than pushing the keys. And since I taught her how to post over a month ago, she has not added another one and the other ones are not wiser either. They prefer "bonking" to blogging and I prefer more of blogging for my sublimation to "bonking". So, I walked out on them.
Gosh! I can just imagine the rapport and synergy you and your wife enjoy blogging and loving together.
Enjoy it.
You are the boss.
Where did you find that picture of a half-empty glass??
Thank you showcasing me -- that was very lovely of you. :)
XOXO
You are welcome, darling....
I ran across your blog by blogging ha. I happened to like the values you hold. As in family. Because family matters. People matter. And life is great when you know there are some out there that hold onto that.
And you appeared that way to me.
I wanted to add, I am a blogging momma boss haha. I raised 4 children on my own. I am a widow. of 8 years. I home schooled. Then decided to start my own company with my two business partners.
I am a Reiki Master Teacher. In other words a healer. (smile)
Take care you.
Shyloh,
Wow, four kids on your own. I have a lot of respect for you. Not easy and then add running a company on top of that, wow!
