It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This

Yep. That's my sweetheart and me.

This is the guy who listens to me read every, single chapter of my novels. Sometimes twice. And it's not because I've asked him to listen -- it's because he's asked me to read. He gives me some darn good feedback (and occasionally rubs my feet while I'm reading).

This is the guy who looks at me over his coffee cup in the morning and says, "So, are you going to write today?" I'll tell you what -- nothing spurs me on quite as much as my darling's undying support.

This is the guy with whom I just had the most fabulous date last night, in celebration of his birthday (which is on Tuesday -- mark it down!). And even though this was supposed to be his birthday celebration, he bought me a tank top at my favorite boutique. "I like giving gifts better than receiving them," he said to me on our way to the car.

How could it possibly get any better than that?

Well, I mean, it could, and it does, but I'm not going to expound on it here.

I guess I just wanted to say -- behind every neurotic female writer is a good man.

Maybe not. But there's definitely a good man behind this neurotic female writer. Eric kicks me out of my slumps, listens to me bellyaching about plot problems, encourages me to keep pressing forward -- and he likes my characters! I could never be married to a man who didn't like my characters.

For him, I do the ironing every Tuesday (a fate worse than cleaning public toilets).

For him, I have acquired a taste for red wine (Merlot, if you please).

For him, I sat and watched Cinderella Man (closing my eyes during the blood-spewing boxing scenes) and actually enjoyed it, just like he said I would.

For him, I will sit at this computer today until I've finished Chapter 10. Because there's nothing like the smile on his face when I tell him I've finished a chapter.

You've gotta love a man who is convinced he's going to see your name on the bestseller list some day.

So there it is, folks -- my gooey, I-love-my-husband post to kick off the week. Feel free to share some of your own, personal goo with me!

goo, goo, goo...I always wanted to have a husband with many of Eric's characteristics. And look...I've got my own goo now...who would have thought! :o) Although...Tom ironed my capris for me this morning! Ironing is the one thing I just don't do for him!

So, did you finish Chapter 10?!

Awwww! Too sweet!
Of course you know, my guy isn't especially gooey, or inclined to give gifts or share his thoughts, but the man will tirelessly clean up after a 16 year old incontinent cat, without a word of complaint, because his wife happens to love the silly creature.
Now that's true love! :-)

We would be nothing without the support of our loved ones.

My wife/critic/editor/sweetheart listens to my endless drivel about Harry Potter, hokey plot ideas, etc. She is also willing to tell me if she doesnt like something I have written. I find that helpful. It isnt helpful when everyone says its wonderful, perfect, blah blah blah. It might be good, but there is always room for improvement.

Good Joo Joo for chapter 10.

Jamie -- You do a heck of a lot, so Tom's help with the ironing sounds like it works just fine. Think I could send him mine? ;)

Snickle -- NO! Argh. But thanks for asking...

Kerrie -- You're absolutely right -- that IS true love!! (with a slight touch of lunacy.....) ;)

Dave -- Yes, the "oh, it's WONDERFUL" doesn't do a thing for our writing. The only way to be truly successful as a writer is to have absolutely, positively NO ego during the writing process. :)

Iris -- Somehow, I knew you'd enjoy this post. :)

Awesome post. It's great that we have the internet to occasionally proclaim our love for our spouse for THE ENTIRE WORLD to know. It's been a while. I need to do that soon.

So... What's in the takeout box?
