Tuesday, October 11, 2005A Quick Note on Character DevelopmentSo, having over-exerted myself again this morning, I was resting on the sofa. A paper house was sitting on my knees, and six-year-old Spencer was "telling a story" with various tiny, paper people and a couple of paper Volkswagens. "Once there was a man," Spencer began, "and he was very happy. He liked everything." Pause. "Well, not everything. He didn't like the way that puke looked like." If that didn't give extra depth to the protagonist, I don't know what would. Labels: writing |

11of my readers are feeling chatty:
Clever Spencer!
OMGoodness, well, I don't like the way puke looks either, Spencer...
AK Jamie
That was sooo funny!
That is my Spencer. Always thinking outside of the box.
Spencer's Dad
The Blogging Dad and
The Blogging Boss
Eric
Didn't take long to get right into it did he? :)
For some reason that reminds me of an old ditty my dad used to say from time to time:
There once was a man named Fred,
who always stayed in bed.
When his neighbors wondered why,
they found out Fred was dead.
And you wonder why I am the way I am.
Dave! ROFL
Oh, it hurts...
I agree with Spencer as the chief puke cleaner upper of the house :D
How does he feel about boogers? I feel that a finger that acquires a booger at the end of it has the power to make folks do pretty much want it wants them to do. I know it's gross, but it's true.
Hiya, Cube!
The boogers never stay on his fingertips long enough. He eats them. Immediately.
Love that he's a writer already...are you still going to do the serial thing? Did I miss it? You've inspired me to maybe do the same at my blog...different genre of course, but I love the idea. My wallet connection will be making the handoff this week, so you'll get your winning wallet soon....
Hi kathie! Yes, I'm still doing the serial thing. My accident has set me back almost 2 weeks, but I've finally got the premise and backstory solid, and am hoping to post the first chapter in mid-November.
I'm excited about the wallet! I hope Mrs. Pickle isn't online. Actually, I don't even know if Mrs. Pickle is still alive...
;)
